THE END OF A GREAT DEBATE

Thinkers from antiquity to modern times have wondered whether alien life exists in the universe. For several decades now, scientists dedicated to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) have been working hard to find the evidence. Not least of which are the people at NASA where the effort to send probes to certain moons around Saturn to determine if alien bacteria may exist is of prime interest at the present time. If that is not enough, in the next decade, NASA intends to build a new and highly sensitive device to send into space designed to analyze the atmospheres of planets around distant stars. Clearly, scientists are increasingly confident of detecting alien life somewhere in the universe. It is all a question of time before we know the answer.

Indeed, a majority of scientists today believe that ETs should exist based on good sociological, biological and astronomical evidence. It seems unfathomable to imagine a universe without them (1). So the question is more a case of where do we find the direct evidence to confirm the answer? Should it be through radio telescopes, sending probes to the moons of Saturn, or some other approach?

SUNRISE is also confident of the prospects of finding ETs. With the technology to allow intelligent lifeforms to reach our planet already known thanks to the publication of UFOs - Can We Advance Science?, we will assume alien life already exists, and all that is required is to test the concept behind the technology so that we may join other civilisations in exploring the universe.

In the meantime, and before the revelation about the technology becomes fully known and implemented for the world to see, this section is dedicated to a general scientific discussion of how many alien civilisations exist in the Milky Way, how long it might take for an alien civilisation to colonise the galaxy (and hence reach us), and reveal the possible reason for an alien civilisation to choose not to make direct contact with us (here's a clue: check the UFO reports more closely).
